Arizona Concours d’Elegance 2024: A Celebration of Automotive Excellence

The recent Arizona Concours d’Elegance 2024 will be remembered for many things, but most notably for crowning the 1968 Lamborghini Miura in Rosso Fuoco as the Post War Best in Show. This magnificent vehicle, once belonging to the Shah of Iran, stood out among an array of classic beauties, curated with care by our dedicated team.

A Milestone for Lamborghini

It was a remarkable honor to host the 60th Anniversary of Lamborghini class at the event. The spotlight, was stolen by our entrant – the 1968 Lamborghini Miura. Not only did it secure the Best in Class title, but it also earned the prestigious Post War Best in Show award, a testament to its unparalleled allure and historical significance.

The Shah's Prized Possession

Chassis No. 3303, marking the 101st Lamborghini Miura ever built, boasts a storied past. Delivered to Mohammad Reza Shah Pahlavi, the then Shah of Iran, on February 9, 1968, this Miura featured a striking Rosso/Bianco color scheme, accentuated with chrome details. As the first of several luxury cars acquired by the Shah, this Miura started a collection that showcased his renowned taste in high-end vehicles.

Interestingly, this car spent its early days in St. Moritz, Switzerland, rather than Tehran, serving as a winter retreat for the Shah.

A Legacy Preserved

The tumultuous events of the Islamic Revolution in 1979 led to the Shah's exile and the eventual seizure of most of his car collection. However, Miura 3303 escaped this fate and later resurfaced in London, under the care of the Shah's son, Alireza Pahlavi, until 2010.

This Miura is celebrated not just for its famous lineage but also for its meticulous restoration, ensuring its originality and historical integrity. The restoration team paid attention to every detail, right down to the handwritten ‘101’ under the seats. The car's public debut post-restoration at Rétromobile 2019 only added to its fame and cemented its status as one of the most iconic and well-preserved examples of the Miura.

In Conclusion

The Arizona Concours d’Elegance 2024 was a grand stage for showcasing automotive history, and the 1968 Lamborghini Miura stood as a shining beacon of that history. Its journey from royal ownership to becoming a celebrated classic car is a tale of luxury, legacy, and the timeless allure of Lamborghini.
